摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an obstacle detector and a mobile robot not only detecting a collision on whole azimuths but also detecting an obstacle such as a slope and acceleration of an acceptable value or higher. SOLUTION: When no force is applied to a bumper 2, the space between the bumper and a frame 1 is maintained without contact by elastic bodies, and a resistance wire 10 and a conductive member 11 do not contact. When a force is applied to the bumper 2 by an obstacle of some kind, the resistance wire 10 and the conductive member 11 contact and the voltage at the contact point of the resistance wire 10 is output to a detection voltage V<SB>out</SB>. The detection voltage V<SB>out</SB>indicates the position in the resistance wire 10 which is arranged in a ring-like shape, and the direction of the force applied is detected based thereon.
