1,133,292. Radiant burners. K. KRIEGER. 30 March, 1967 [6 April, 1966; 26 Aug., 1966], No. 14551/67. Heading F4T. A radiant burner comprises a casing 2 defining a distribution chamber supplied with a gas/air mixture through an inlet 3, and a burner head 4 formed of a plate 7 apertured at 8 and having spaced therefrom an insulating layer 10, e.g. a heat-resistant fibrous fleece, provided with apertures 12 which diverge in the direction of the plate 7. Adjacent the fleece 10 there may be provided a further plate 13 with apertures 14 corresponding to apertures 12. The total through flow cross-section of the apertures 12 is less than that of apertures 8, and the apertures 12 may outnumber apertures 8. The apertures 12 may be formed by metal tubes embedded in the insulating layer. In a further embodiment the burner head may be formed as a closed-ended cylinder with the apertures formed in the curved surface. The insulating layer may be formed of or based on aluminium oxide and the plates 7 and 13 made from a chrome-nickel alloy. |
