A substantially pure peptide consists of the amino acid sequence of PLNPK. The peptide is useful as a pharmaceutical composition. A method is also provided for making a pharmaceutical composition comprising providing the peptide and mixing the peptide with a pharmaceutical acceptable carrier. A molecule comprising an enhanced derivative of this peptide comprises an enhancement molecule operably linked to the peptide, said enhancement molecule enhancing the therapeutic effectiveness of the peptide.
