1,128,895. Bearings. MECANORGA S.A. 8 Feb., 1966 [8 Feb., 1965], No. 5545/66. Heading F2A. [Also in Division G3] A fluid bearing comprises two relatively movable members, one having chambers 4, 5, 17, 18 fed by pressurized fluid, and a pneumatic control system which controls the relative position of the members by controlling the flow of fluid to said chambers, the pneumatic control system having an air source 28 separate from the fluid source 15 supplying the chambers. In Fig. 1, fluid from sump 15 is supplied to bush pressure chambers 4, 5 direct and to bush pressure chambers 17, 18 via piston valve 21. Air from source 28 is supplied via nozzles 24, 25 to nozzles 26, 27, and to end surfaces of valve head 21. On movement of the shaft along the diametral line joining nozzles 26, 27, changes of air pressure displace the head and thus adjust the pressure in chambers 17, 18 to return the shaft in a central position with respect to the bush. In Fig. 2 (not shown), a single pair of nozzles (25, 27) is used. |
