1,076,993. Winding yarns. W. REINERS, [trading as W. SCHLAFHORST & CO.], Aug. 4, 1964 [July 30, 1963], No. 31000/64. Heading D1J. In a yarn winding mechanism having a thread-deflecting member 7, a grooved drum 1 driving a package 2, and travel limiters 3 preventing a broken yarn end from moving to a setting where it can fall off either end of the drum 1, there is provided additional threaddeflecting means 5 so arranged that an imaginary extension 8 of the thread path between 7 and 5 is spaced from the drum 6 and the travel limiters 3. This arrangement is stated to cause a broken thread end to follow the imaginary extension 8 before being wound up on the package 2. The additional thread-deflecting means 5 can be a rail, or a pair of spaced apart guides in the region of the yarn reversal points, these guides being shaped with extensions that extend upwardly and towards the centre of the yarn traverse to assist in keeping a broken yarn away from the ends of the drum 1. |
