A girdle, corselette, panty girdle, swimsuit or the like has a front area including a central panel 4 extending downwardly from the garment waistband 11 and pairs of elastic panels 1-3 extending respectively horizontally, downwardly and upwardly away from the central portion and so stitched together at their adjacent edges that the edges have common foci 23 at the sides 9 of the garment. Similar elastic panels 17, with or without a central panel, may be provided at the rear of the garment, and may have the same faci 23. A stretch or non-stretch crotch piece 18 may be provided, and the garment may have legs 8. The garment is preferably made from spandex fibre knitted with nylon, panels 1-3, 9 and 17 being double ply, panel 4 triple ply and the remaining material single ply. Garters and sliding clasp fasteners may be provided. The elastic panels 1-3 correspond to the wearer's muscles, Figs. 1-4 (not shown). |
