In an independent wheel suspension assembly comprising a spring strut element 4 mounted at its upper end on a vehicle superstructure and at its lower end fixed to a wheel carrier 2, and secured to a lateral suspension arm 5, the steering axis 7 intersects the central vertical transverse plane of the wheel between the ground contact point 11 and the wheel axis 9, and the strut axis 8 passes through the wheel axis 9 and is inclined rearwardly at a greater angle than is the steering axis 7. The axes 7 and 8 are in a common inclined longitudinal plane of the vehicle. The large inclination from the vertical of the strut axis reduces vehicle nose-dive on braking. |
