PURPOSE: A rechargeable lithium ion battery pack using a battery management system(BMS) and a swelling detecting device are provided to prevent the firing and explosion of the rechargeable lithium ion battery pack caused by the malfunction or physical or electrical impact. CONSTITUTION: A rechargeable lithium ion battery pack using a battery management system(BMS) comprises a rechargeable lithium ion battery(120), a protection circuit(110) and a swelling detecting device(140). The protection circuit is an electrical safety system of the rechargeable lithium ion battery. The swelling detecting device is an instrument safety system detecting the swelling generation. The swelling detecting device is connected between the rechargeable lithium ion battery and the protection circuit. The swelling detecting device is disconnected when the swelling occurs.
