[Also in Division G5] A magnetic polepiece assembly is manufactured by: (a) placing solder 24 in a groove 21 in a magnetic body 20, (b) depositing non-magnetic spacers 25, 26 on at least one body and holding two bodies together, and (c) heating the assembly to melt the solder so as to fasten the parts together externally of the gap. The assembly is cut to produce polepiece units then completed with yokes, windings and machined. The body 20 is of an Fe-Co-BSn-Al alloy, the spacers Cu, Al, Ag or Ti and the solder a conventional Pb-Sn solder. |
