A device for cleaning fluorescent tubes and the like comprises a cleaning head 12 having two flexible arms 18, 20 which helically extend in opposite directions from a base portion 16 to which a handle assembly 14 is attached, the arms 18, 20 being provided with a cleaning surface 34 which by manipulation of the device can be arranged to touch the outer wall of a tube 52 in such a way that by subsequently moving the device axially of the tube the entire peripheral wall of the tube can be cleaned. The cleaning surface 34 comprises piled fabric material 38 which may be a copolymer of vinyl chloride and acrylonitrile or lamb's wool, nylon, or polyethylene terephthalic and which extends from a backing (36) (Fig. 3, not shown) adhered to the arms 18, 20. The cleaning head 12 and also the handle assembly 14 which may comprise a number of releasably detachable sections 40 is of electrically non-conductive material. |
