A vehicle headlamp providing a main and a dipped beam comprises a main reflector R 1 , the axis of revolution of which coincides with the axis A-A of the headlamp, and having an electric bulb, e.g. a tungsten-iodine lamp L 1 , arranged at the focus, and a subsidiary reflector R 2 situated above the axis A-A and having a bulb L 2 arranged on its axis in front of the focus, one edge of the reflector R 2 being horizontal and the other extending downwardly in an axial plane, the dipped beam being provided by the bulb L 2 and the main beam by both bulbs. A screen E may be provided below the bulb L 2 . The lamp is completed by flanges extending forward from the main reflector R 1 and closed in front by a lens G. For adjusting the inclination of the dipped beam, the upper part of the reflector R 2 may have a similar flange J 2 , the flanges J 1 , J 2 being connected at two parts symmetrically arranged in opposite sides of the axis of the headlamp, the connections each consisting of a rivet 21 and washer 22 and the flange J 2 having a projection 23 adjustably connected to the flange J 1 by a screw 24, a spring 25 surrounding the screw biasing the projection 23 away from the flange J 1 . In a modification, the flange J 2 is omitted and the lamp L 2 and reflector R 2 are carried by a collar supported by rods corresponding to the rivets 21 and adjustable by a screw in the flange J 1 connected to a projection on the reflector R 2 with the interposition of a spring. |
