The method involves guiding the waste water (AW) by a heat transmitting device (15) comprising a heat pipe, a heat pump or a thermoelectric generator. The heat of the heat transmitting device, is withdrawn by moving the waste water. The waste water is guided in a closed waste water circulation circuit (16,17) by the heat transmitting device. An independent claim is also included for a water-guiding household device, particularly a dishwasher or a washing machine with a waste water pump.
