[Also in Division E2] An assembly for connecting two members of a piece of furniture has two flanges 37 and 41 joined together. The flange 37 carries a wing 35 attached to the outside surface of a first member while flange 41 carries a wing 43 attached to the inside surface of a second member. A retainer 45 is carried in a slot 46 in the second member and has a hole which is aligned with a hole in the wing 43. A bolt 52 extends through the hole in wing 43 and through an opening 55 in the inside surface of the second member to engage in the retainer 45, to tighten the connection between the assembly and the second member, to allow adjustment of the relative positions of the members and to permit detachment of the second member from the assembly. In other embodiments the flange 41 is adapted for use with inset and partially inset members. In a further embodiment both members are adapted with bolts and retainers so that the assembly is detachable from both of them. The assembly can be used as a clip or bracket to connect frame members detachably together. In particular such dips may be used to connect the frame and side walls of a "knock down" cabinet to enable quick and easy assembly of the cabinet. |
