PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a mail sorting device of a simple constitution, which improves a treatment efficiency as a sortable case without removing even mails having being removed as short gap mails in a certain case. SOLUTION: The mail sorting device is a mail sorting device sorting a plurality of mails continuously running. An interval measuring means measuring a first interval between a first mail and a second mail running before is provided. When the first interval measured by the interval measuring means is narrower than the least interval which is sortable, a second interval between a third mail running before the second mail and the second mail is checked, and the running speed of the second mail is accelerated to expand the first interval when an average interval of the first interval and the second interval is the least interval or more.
