PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device capable of reducing the thickness of a whole apparatus, and to provide a portable terminal having the display device. SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device includes: a first substrate where a pixel part 12 configured by arranging a plurality of pixels 11 in a matrix and drive systems (13 and 14) for driving for writing a pixel signal to the pixel part 12 are formed; a second substrate arranged to face the first substrate; and a liquid crystal layer held between the first substrate and the second substrate. Control systems (23, 24 and 25) controlling the drive systems (13 and 14) are mounted on the first substrate by a semiconductor chip by a COG method. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
