PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device that suppresses wrinkling of a cylindrical material when an image is fixed thereon and that also appropriately fixes an image to a material other than a cylindrical one. SOLUTION: The fixing device includes: a first rotation body 9a; a rotation belt; a fixing nip pressure-switching part for switching the nip pressure of a fixing nip N9 between a first nip pressure and a second nip pressure; a fixing nip length-switching part for switching the nip length of the fixing nip N9 between a first nip length and a second nip length; a fixing nip pressure switch control part for instructing the fixing nip pressure switching part to switch the nip pressure to the second nip when a material T to be transferred is cylindrical or to the first nip pressure when the material T is not cylindrical; and a fixing nip length switch control part for instructing the fixing nip length switch part to switch the nip length to the second nip length when the material T is cylindrical or to the first nip length when the material is not cylindrical.
