PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display controller which switches to caption out-screen display, according to the existence of caption. SOLUTION: A TV device 100 has: a digital broadcast tuner 103, which receives broadcast data of digital TV broadcast; an out-screen configuration storage part 107 which determines whether a program included in broadcast data received by the digital broadcast tuner 103 is a captioned program, the switches full screen display allowing the images of the program to be displayed on the full display screen of the display part 115, when it is determined as being a captioned program to caption out-screen display reducing the image size and allowing the size-reduced images and caption to be displayed not to be overlapped with each other on the display part 115; and a video signal creation part 113.
