Esters of α-#-unsaturated monocarboxylic acids and polyamino monohydric alcohols of general formula where R is H or methyl, A is wherein -NR 1 R 2 is a secondary aliphatic, tertiary aliphatic or heterocyclic amino group of 2 to 12 carbon atoms, R3 is an aliphatic hydrocarbon radical containing up to 6 carbon atoms, n is 2 or 3, are prepared by reacting a polyamino alcohol of formula A-OH with an appropriate α-#-unsaturated acid, or a chloride or C 1-4 alkyl ester thereof. The reaction is preferably carried out in the presence of a solvent, an esterification catalyst, e.g. ferric or aluminium sulphate, sulphuric acid, sodium bisulphate or metals and alkoxides, and a polymerization inhibitor. Many examples are given.
