A manual device for picking up waste, produced in particular for picking up canine excrement, having two identical walls (A/B) shaped to form a container for collecting and temporarily storing waste, each wall comprising a central element (A12/B12) on its upper part for joining the walls according to a tenon/mortise concept, allowing a pivoting movement relative to a central axis in order to open the walls, and teeth (A6/B6) on its lower part which form the scraping edge and are provided over the entire width of the horizontal edge of the wall in order to interlock the walls; two pivoting clip elements (C/D) fixed to the central elements of the walls for grasping the housing and opening the walls; a bag reservoir consisting of two elements, an upper element (E) thereof containing a lower element (F); a torsion spring (G) for closing the walls; and a pin (H) for connecting all the elements.
