PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developer carrier or the like for preventing polarity of a magnetic pole between repulsive poles from being reversed and having a magnet roll having highly accurate magnetic force characteristics. SOLUTION: The developer carrier has a magnet roll formed by bonding a plurality of magnet pieces around a shaft, and a developing sleeve to be rotated around the magnet roll. The plurality of the magnet pieces includes: a conveying pole piece for conveying a developer adsorbed on the surface of the developing sleeve; an interposed pole piece provided adjacent to the conveying pole piece and for separating the developer from the surface of the developing sleeve; and a pumping pole piece provided adjacent to the interposed pole piece and for adsorbing the developer on the surface of the developing sleeve. Concerning the conveying pole piece, the interposed pole piece and the pumping pole piece, normal directional magnetic flux density is the same polarity on the surface of the developing sleeve, and the interposed pole piece protrudes more outward than the conveying pole piece on a boundary surface between the conveying pole piece and the interposed pole piece.
