PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop a test system for identification and characterization of an APJ receptor ligand which is usable for prevention or treatment, etc., of a heart disease. SOLUTION: The test system for the identification of APJ receptor ligands comprises G<SB>α</SB>protein selected from (a) an APJ receptor or a functional variant thereof, (b) a G<SB>αΔ6qi4myr</SB>protein, a G<SB>αi4qi4</SB>protein or a G<SB>α16</SB>protein, in which bonding of the APJ receptor ligand to the APJ receptor or its functional variant, acts on the measurable signal or detectable signal. There are provided a method of screening an APJ receptor ligand using the test system, a method for producing a medicament, a method for diagnosis and prognosis of a heart disease, and a kit usable for detection or prognosis of a heart disease.
