The invention relates to a gate drive device (10) for driving a gate having a mains connection (18) for connecting the gate drive device (10) to a power supply network, an electrical motor unit (12) having an electrical motor (30) for driving the gate, a transformer (14) which is connected to the electrical motor unit (12) for supplying power, a switching apparatus (16), which is connected to the mains connection (18) and the transformer (14) in order to connect the transformer (14) to the power supply network when in an ON state and to disconnect said transformer from the power supply network when in an OFF state, a control (24) which is connected to the switching apparatus (16) and designed such that said control switches the switching apparatus (16) into the ON state for operation of the electrical motor (30) and into the OFF state for a standby mode and in order to be able to continue to operate the gate drive device in an energy-optimized manner even after extended operation with low maintenance, the control (24) is interconnected with the mains connection (18) parallel to the switching apparatus (16) such that said control can be connected to the power supply network independently of the switching state of the switching device (16). |
