<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of promptly discriminating whether a cartridge is attached or detached and whether the cartridge is authorized or is not authorized, while avoiding mixing of non-authorized toner. <P>SOLUTION: When outputting a driving signal for reversely rotating a toner supply motor to a motor driver (#1), a cartridge determination part detects a lock current (YES in #2), and when acquiring tag information (YES in #3), the cartridge determination part determines that the cartridge being authorized is attached to a developing device (#4). When detecting the lock current (YES in #2) and acquiring no tag information (NO in #3), the cartridge determination part determines that the cartridge being not authorized is attached to the developing device (#6). When detecting no lock current (NO in #2) and acquiring the tag information (YES in #8), the cartridge determination part determines that the false cartridge is attached to the developing device (#9).
