PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus, an image processing method and a program for improving accuracy of extracting a subject region. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus 100 includes: a lens unit 1, an electronic imaging unit 2 and an imaging control unit 3 as an imaging means for capturing a subject-image including a subject in the background and then capturing a background image including no subject under the same condition as when capturing the subject-image; and an image processing unit 8 for positioning the subject-image and the background image, then generating difference information of corresponding pixels between the positioned subject-image and background image, and extracting a subject region including the subject from the subject-image on the basis of the difference information.
