<p>An acrylate interpolymer is prepared by polymerising together > 25% of an alkoxyalkyl acrylate, 70% of an alkyl acrylate and 0.5 to 10% of allyl chloroacetate or vinyl chloroacetate. The interpolymers can be vulcanised by various methods. The vulcanisates have a good balance of flexibility at low temperature and oil-resistance. Suitable alkoxyalkyl acrylates have the formula:- where R1 is C1-4 alkylene, R2 is C1-4 alkyl or an alkoxy group. Acrylates in which R1 is -CH2- or -CH2CH2- and R2 is (m)ethyl or (m)ethoxyethyl are preferred.</p> |
