PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic device capable of making a user recognize the location of a remote controller and completing the calling operation of a desired remote controller more readily than conventionally, an electronic device system and a method of controlling the electronic device. SOLUTION: A video display device 2 includes a storage section 26 which stores calling setting information 260, including the identifiers of a plurality of remote controllers and characteristic information; a transmission section 28 for transmitting calling signals; and a control section 25 for, when a calling request of a desired remote controller from among the plurality of remote controllers is received, acquiring the identifier corresponding to the remote controller from which the calling request is received from the call-setting information 260 in the storage section 26 and transmitting the calling signals, based on the acquired identifier via the transmission section 28.
