PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video intercom device in which when a person is displayed in a screen in the middle of being moved even when a monitor display area is moved to a preset area during pan-tilt operation, the movement is temporarily stopped at the display screen. SOLUTION: A living room master unit 2 divides an imaged video of a slave unit camera 14 into nine areas, expands a central division area P5 among them to display the central division area on a monitor 21. The living room master unit has a face detection unit 33 for determining the position and size of a face to generate a face area E when the expanded video is subjected to pan-tilt operation, a display area decision unit 35 for determining a radio of the face area E of the video displayed on the monitor 21, and a video processing unit 26 for receiving the pan-tilt operation to move display video of the monitor 21 to an adjacent division area. While the video processing unit 26 is in the middle of moving a display area Pm of the monitor 21, the display area decision unit 35 determines a state in which the display ratio of the face area E is maximum, a master unit CPU 32 temporarily stops the movement of the video in its maximum display state.
