The machine (1) has a pressing arrangement (2) with a pressing gap (3) extended in a running direction of a fibrous material web (F) e.g. paper web. A cover is guided in the form of an endlessly rotating dehydration strip receiving a fluid beside the fibrous material web at both sides through the pressing gap, and a smoothing gap (4) provided subordinate to the pressing arrangement. A drying device (6) is arranged in the running direction of the fibrous material web between the pressing arrangement and the smoothing gap. The drying device includes an impingement drying device e.g. air drying device.
