PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recognition device capable of changing a template image in a more accurate subject position and is capable of precisely following and tracking the change of the subject position. SOLUTION: The image recognition device includes: an imaging unit which captures an image obtained through an optical system; a recognition unit which recognizes a position of an image of a specific object from an image captured by the imaging unit; a focus detection unit which detects focus state of the optical system for a plurality of focus detection positions set correspondingly to a plurality of positions in the image; a selection unit which selects one of the plurality of focus detection positions on the basis of the focus states; and a changing unit which changes the image of the specific object on the basis of a positional relationship between the position of the image of the specific object recognized by the recognition unit and the focus detection position selected by the selection unit.
