The method involves partly simulating an electric drive by a circuit simulator (1). A realistic driving process of an electric vehicle is simulated by a driving simulator (6). The circuit simulator is coupled with the driving simulator. Components of the electric drive are simulated by the circuit simulator using software. Another component of the electric drive is fastened to the circuit simulator via a hardware-software-interface. Driving conditions of the electric vehicle is frequently simulated by the driving simulator, where the electric drive is optimized for the driving conditions. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a computer-readable data storage medium comprising stored computer program for executing a method of simulating an electric drive for an electric vehicle (2) a computer program processed in a computer for executing a method of simulating an electric drive for an electric vehicle (3) a simulator of an electric drive for an electric vehicle.
