The system has a refrigerant circuit (5) in which a refrigerating agent (K) is guided, where the refrigerating agent absorbs heat in an evaporator (1) under cooling of a medium (a) to be cooled and delivers the heat into liquefiers (3a, 3b) under warming of a cooling medium (b) i.e. cooling water. The refrigerant circuit has two parallel refrigerant branches (5a, 5b) between a compressor (2) and the evaporator. The liquefiers are arranged in the refrigerant branches, respectively. An expansion turbine (7) provided above one of the liquefiers is arranged in one of the refrigerant branches. An independent claim is also included for a method for cold production.
