<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively and stably operate a vertical-type scrap-melting furnace by using a scrap containing heavy scrap for an iron source, in a method of producing molten pig iron by melting ferrous scrap while using the furnace. <P>SOLUTION: This production method includes charging such an iron source as to satisfy the expression of 1.0≤A (wherein A is apparent bulk density of iron source (t/m<SP>3</SP>)), into the furnace, when using the heavy scrap specified in Uniform Standards of Ferrous Scraps as at least one part of the ferrous scrap. The unit consumption of the coke is thereby lowered, because an effective reaction area between the gas and the iron source in the furnace is large, the sensible heat of the gas is sufficiently transferred to the iron source, and the loss of the sensible heat of the gas is decreased. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
