PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent graininess of an image from being changed when expressing a primary color constituting the image by using color material in color lighter than the primary color and color material in color equal to or darker than the primary color. SOLUTION: A color separation part 62 stores a lookup table in which conversion characteristic of an original signal is described, and converts an original signal input from a signal supply part 61 into color signals of dark color and light color without changing area of a medium covered with the color materials corresponding to the color signals of the dark color and the light color. A total weight restricting part 63 converts a value of at least any one of the color signals so that total weight of toner of respective colors may be restricted to be equal to or under a total weight limited value by using the total weight of toner expressed by the acquired color signals and a predetermined total weight limited value, and outputs the color signal subjected to the conversion.
