PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To grasp reality of failure generated in a radiation detector due to falling or collision and to allow a user to carry out photography if possible. SOLUTION: When an impact detecting section 26 detects acceleration or impact, a cassette control section 51 of a radiation detecting cassette 12 actuates a self-diagnosis section 53. The self-diagnosis section 53 reads out an offset image that is made of signal charges accumulated by a plurality of pixels composing the radiation detector 18 when radiation is not detected from the radiation detector 18, and analyzes the offset image. The self-diagnosis section 53 diagnoses whether the radiation detector 18 is usable, unusable or partly usable on the basis of abnormal parts specified by analyzing the offset image.
