PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium in which RRO of a stamper is sufficiently low. SOLUTION: A recessed and protruded pattern of a stamper for transferring a pattern of a discrete track in a recording layer of the magnetic recording medium is formed so as to have: a principal area corresponding to a data area including a data recording part and an address part of the recording medium; and a dummy area. The recessed and protruded pattern in the dummy area is manufactured by a stamper configured such that the repeatable run out is 1 nm or less between the fifteenth order and the fortieth order when the rotational frequency is the first order for reference.
