PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus capable of improving both of the reproducing performance and searching performance of a specified object image. SOLUTION: In the image processing apparatus, a field image is fetched to an SDRAM 32 by a memory control circuit 30. A first γ correction circuit provided in a post-processing circuit 34 adjusts the color tone of the field image fetched to the SDRAM 34 corresponding to the characteristics of an LCD monitor 38. The field image having the adjusted color tone is displayed on the LCD monitor 38 by an LCD driver 36. Also, a second γ correction circuit provided in the post-processing circuit 34 adjusts the color tone of the field image fetched to the SDRAM 32 in parallel with the color tone adjusting processing of the first γ correction circuit. A CPU 26 searches an object image matched with a registered face pattern from the field image having the color tone adjusted by the second γ correction circuit.
