The present invention relates to a device for adjusting the useful length of a bracelet including first and second free ends (2, 3), the adjustment device comprising a frame (35, 75, 95) with an adjustment member (38, 78, 98, 220) to be secured to a first free end (3) of the bracelet and capable of sliding in the lengthwise direction of the bracelet relative to the frame, as well as a fastening member (12) for the bracelet, at least indirectly secured to the frame (35, 75, 95, 230, 330) and intended for being secured to the second free end (2) of the bracelet. The device also includes a jaw (54, 226, 326) movable between an operative and inoperative position, in particular due to a predefined action of a user on a control member (56, 116, 240, 340), and arranged so as to lock the adjustment member in the operative position and to leave the member free in the inoperative position, in order to define a plurality of discrete adjustment positions in the longitudinal direction of the bracelet, two adjacent discrete positions defining an adjustment pitch of the useful length of the bracelet. The device is characterised in that it comprises an automatic conversion mechanism (42, 50, 51, 52, 54, 65, 68, 92, 107, 111, 128, 134, 135, 137, 252, 333, 348) arranged so as to automatically convert the action of the user on the control member into a sliding of the adjustment member by one pitch, and enabling the useful length of the bracelet to be adjusted. |
