Disclosed is a method and device for message handling, which involves the field of communication technology. The method includes: receiving the notification about whether the X2 interface to neighbor station is available; when the X2 interface is not available, S1 interface is used for sending information; and/or receiving the notification about whether the S1 interface to the neighbor station is available; when the S1 interface is not available, the X2 interface is used for sending information. The technical solution can ensure normal communication, and reduce the probability of communication failure.
