The device (10) has a switch (12) i.e. micro switch, arranged on a conductor plate (11), and a switch actuator (13) transferable over a movable actuating slide (14) into a switching position. The slide is loaded by a spring (20) in a direction of a switching off direction with respect to the actuator, and definable in an on-position by a holding unit (15). The unit is transferable into a release position by a short term current pulse generated by an energy source, where the pulse is triggered in dependence of a time switch and current monitoring current consumption of an electrical device.
