PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve device which detects the movement of a plunger correctly, and reduces power consumption when driving a latch type solenoid valve. SOLUTION: The valve device includes a plunger which is moved by energization to a solenoid coil, a valve body which is actuated so as to open/close a flow passage by the movement of the plunger, and a control part which controls the energization to the solenoid coil. The control part includes a monitoring part which monitors a current flowing through the solenoid coil when energized or a voltage according to the current, a timer part which keeps time from the point in time when the current or voltage reaches a predetermined current value or predetermined voltage value, and a storage part which stores the predetermined current value or predetermined voltage value. The control part is configured to stop the energization to the solenoid coil after a lapse of a predetermined time from the point in time when the current or voltage reaches the predetermined current value or predetermined voltage value.
