PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily perform return processing after lock operation, by enhancing performance of the lock operation, in a spring balancer device. SOLUTION: This spring balancer device has a main gear 10H coaxially fixed to a rotary main shaft 10J, a driving gear 20H meshing with its main gear 10H and rotatingly driving this main gear 10H, and a locking gear 30H for stopping rotation of the rotary main shaft 10J by being moved to a lock position Lc meshing with the main gear 10H by moving around this driving gear 20H while meshing with the diving gear 20H. When a value of a rotation load of the driving gear 20H detected by a load detecting part 40 is a predetermined value or less, the locking gear 30H is retreated to an unmeshed position ULc of the main gear 10H and the locking gear 30H, and when the value of the rotation load exceeds the predetermined value, the locking gear 30H is moved to the lock position Lc.
