Provided is a liquid crystal display panel manufacturing method, which enables favorable formation of scribed grooves when multiple liquid crystal display panels having a small thickness are obtained from a panel assemblage from which to take out multiple liquid crystal display panels, and is therefore capable of contributing to profile thinning and frame narrowing of liquid crystal display panels. The method comprises, after a first plate thinning step, a first scribed groove forming step and second plate thinning step, wherein: at the first plate thinning step, plates used as a TFT substrate assemblage (20A) and CF substrate assemblage (30A) which constitute a panel assemblage (10A) are thinned respectively by being etched; at the first scribed groove forming step, first scribed grooves (20b) respectively extending along regions throughout each of which a seal (40) has been arranged are formed on the outer surface (20a) of the TFT substrate assemblage (20A); and, at the second plate thinning step, while the plates used as the TFT substrate assemblage (20A) and CF substrate assemblage (30A) are further thinned respectively by being etched, parts of the respective seals (40) are exposed through the bottoms of the respective first scribed grooves (20b) by growing the first scribed grooves (20b) which have been formed on the outer surface (20a) of the TFT substrate assemblage (20A).
