PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet recording device which irradiates a photocurable ink discharged for recording a specified image with light properly, and thereby can securely obtain an image of best-suited quality, as well as an inkjet recording method. SOLUTION: This inkjet recording device performs the following operating procedures: First, a first detection sensor detects the arrival of a recording medium to be conveyed by a conveyance part, at a recording initiating position. Then the first detection sensor counts an integrated value in terms of the amount of conveyance of the recording medium until the completion of recording the specified image, and a second detection sensor detects the recording medium. Further, after spending a first stand-by time "t1" (S128), the exposure to light is initiated (S130). Also, after spending a second stand-by time "t2" calculated based on the integrated value of the amount of conveyance of the recording medium (S132), the exposure to light is suspended (S134).
