PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus which can obtain images capable of discriminating respective facial expressions when imaging the face of a person. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus performs imaging once or more during an interval period to perform self-timer imaging and comprises a control unit which controls an imaging device so as to perform image capturing for self-timer imaging after the lapse of the interval period. A face detection unit is provided for performing face detection to specify a facial region in the image captured by imaging using the imaging device during the interval period. An image processing unit is provided for segmenting a close-up image within an area including one facial region for each of the facial regions specified by the face detection unit.
