<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively reduce cost by efficiently using all of a plurality of fixing units until the ends of their service lives. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus has a fixing section 17 including: a first fixing unit 17a, which is attached to be attachable to/detachable from a first unit-storing chamber 17h<SB>1</SB>in an insulation case 17d, for fixing transfer material 14 on which a toner image is transferred at a transfer section; and a second fixing unit 17b, which is attached to a second unit-storing chamber 17h<SB>2</SB>in the insulation case 17d, for fixing the transfer material which is fixed at the first fixing unit. In this case, the first unit-storing chamber can have the second fixing unit attached to it and the second unit-storing chamber can have the first fixing unit attached to it in the fixing section 17.
