<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel subjected to carbonitriding treatment and having improved fatigue strength, and to provide a heat treating method for producing the steel. <P>SOLUTION: The method includes a process where an alloy steel having a carbon content of 0.15 to 0.70% is subjected to a carbonitriding treatment so as to incorporate carbon by 1.0 to 2.5% and nitrogen by 0.3 to 0.8% into the surface of the steel, and a process where heating is performed at 250 to 300°C for≥2 hr and subjected to tempering treatment to transform austenite in the structure into martensite. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
