PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a semiconductor memory device enabling a memory system to flexibly meet a request from a user while maintaining high performance. SOLUTION: The semiconductor memory device includes: an NAND flash 12; a user area 111 which has stored user data and is accessible from the outside; a system area 112 which has stored the system information of the NAND flash 12 and is an area exclusive from the user area 111; a DRAM 11 with the user area 111 and the system area 112; an NAND-CTL 15 for performing access to the NAND flash 12; a DRAM-CTL 14 for performing access to the DRAM 11; an internal bus 16 arranged between the NAND-CTL 15 and the DRAM-CTL 14 for enabling the NAND-CTL 15 to access the system area 112; and a memory controller 13 with the NAND-CTL 15, DRAM-CTL 14, and the internal bus 16.
