PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic transmission advantageous in terms of gear efficiency, gear noise, durability reliability, and cost while achieving forward eight speeds by three planetary gears and six friction elements, and improving the efficiency of the transmission of drive energy by minimizing a friction loss. SOLUTION: At least a forward eight-speed and back one-speed transmission are obtained by simultaneously fastening three frictional elements out of six friction elements constituted of: a first clutch C1 selectively connecting a sun gear S1 to a rotation member M2; a second clutch C2 selectively connecting a rotation member M1 to a ring gear R3; a third clutch C3 selectively connecting a ring gear R1 to the ring gear R3; a first brake B1 locking rotation of the rotation member M1; a second brake B2 for locking rotation of the ring gear R1; and a third brake B3 for locking rotation of a sun gear S3.
