Disclosed is an oil-in-water-type emulsion composition characterized by comprising (a) octocrylene, (b) bisethylhexyloxyphenol methoxyphenyl triazine, (c) diethylamino hydroxybenzoyl hexyl benzoate, (d) 4-tert-butyl-4'-methoxydibenzoylmethane, (e) a water-soluble polymer, (f) a water-swellable clay mineral, (g) an oil having an IOB value of 0.05 or more, (h) a higher fatty acid, (i) a surfactant, and (j) water. Also disclosed is a sunscreen cosmetic that exhibits an excellent ultraviolet ray absorption effect, excellent emulsion stability and an excellent sensation upon use.
