PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator capable of realizing a maintenance structure of the elevator without impairing car design, by safely performing inspection work from the inside of a car on hoistway apparatuses such as a control panel and an auxiliary panel in a hoistway. SOLUTION: This elevator includes the hoistway 1 provided with the hoistway apparatuses 3 and 4 of an inspection object, the car 2 having a cage constituted of four side plates with the hoistway apparatuses 3 and 4 of the hoistway 1 as one side part, an opening part arranged in the side plates of the one side part of the car 2, and a car inside operation panel 9 for taking a position for closing the opening part and a position for opening the opening part and arranged on the side plate of the one side part. The car inside operation panel 9 performs call registration in a closing position in ordinary operation, and takes an opening position in maintenance work, and the hoistway apparatuses 3 and 4 in a maintenance work range are inspected from the opening part.
